Our New House

This post is going to be primarily pictures.  And I must say that ALL decorating and furniture, etc was already in the house when we got here.  Our stuff still hasn't even made it out here yet.  But for a brief explanation of where we are living now:  Sylacauga, Alabama is our new home.  Stephen grew up in this small town outside of Birmingham and it is full of Southern hospitality and small town friendships - the kind where everyone knows everyone else and their entire life's history.  His family is here and it's where he lived from the time he was born until he left for college.  We are living here while he finishes seminary at the New Orleans extension in Birmingham.  We are living in his grandparents' house, which has been unoccupied for the last 7 or so years.  Stephen's uncle and mom have worked hard renovating it over the last 3 years, and we are now getting to reap the benefits in this beautifully redone and redecorated, furnished, HUGE, southern house.  We are SOOOO thankful for this blessing in our lives and hope to spend our time here building relationships that edify and point people to the Lord.  Ok, now for some pictures!

We've gone from here:

To here:
Look, there's me!

And there's my car in the driveway!
This is one of our favorite rooms:

And there's a whole lot more...that was only 1 of the 4 bedrooms, but that's all the pics I have at the moment.  Didn't Stephen's mom do a great job decorating the house!?!

Life is Wonderful

He's here! He's here!  See:
He's sitting with me in the office RIGHT NOW!  It's actually been a few days since my wonderful husband and father-in-law got into town and we've been going, going, going.  We're actually about to run to WalMart and buy housey stuff like some sprinklers, and an AC filter and food to grill on our new grill!  Thanks Aunt Jamie!!!  I have some great pictures of our new house that I promise to put up really soon - maybe even tonight, but I gotta run for now!  Isn't he cute!

He's REALLY almost here!

TOMORROW!!!!!!! Please, oh please, Lord, let them make it back tomorrow! As long as they continue to make pretty good time and drive a whole lot, Stephen and Frank should be here tomorrow night!!! I get to see my wonderful husband in a day!

He's Almost Here!

Tomorrow the movers show up in California to load up all our stuff and drive it home to Alabama for us. Stephen's dad flew out there today to help with the drive across the country in Stephen's car, and they will be leaving tomorrow as soon as the movers are done. That means my husband will be back in just a few short days!!! I can't wait for him to get here...I thought this long distance thing was over once we got married! :-) But atleast it was only 2 weeks (even if it did feel like forever).

I am definitely thankful that I had these two weeks to get used to my new job. It has taken some adjusting and I've been staying really late every night, putting me home usually after 7 or 8 pm. I do NOT plan on doing that once Stephen is here, and so it was good to have some time to get the feel for things and not be feeling bad for neglecting him.

Today I did yardwork! It's so weird to me that I haven't had a YARD since high school. Or a garage, come to think of it. I'm so excited to get some plants and flowers (hopefully). That was one thing I loved about where we were in California - all the beautiful flowers that were always in bloom! I guess we'll have to see whether or not I have a green thumb!

Waiting...

It's now been almost a week and a half since I said bye to Stephen and got on the plane headed to Alabama. I am definitely ready for him to be here and for us to be in our new house together. Just one more week to go. I've been incredibly busy getting used to my new job. It's been a little overwhelming, but hopefully I'll feel more comfortable with it soon. I've been staying with Stephen's parents, and they have been fantastic. I'm so thankful to have them out here. They have definitely been spoiling me! And Janet and Jayci have been a huge help getting our new home ready for all our stuff! I have some pics, but I'm waiting for Stephen to get out here with the computer so I can post them. For anyone reading this in California, I miss you guys! Give Stephen a hug for me!

Lives of the Rich and Famous

Today after church we stopped at the gas station around the corner from where we live.  Next to the gas station is a Denny's.  And in the Denny's parking lot today was this car:
That cool car is a Lamborghini, as Stephen explained to me.  Next to it was a Mercedes, which wasn't nearly as exciting so we didn't take a picture of that one.  So if you come live in Los Angeles, you too can drive your lamborghini to exciting places like Denny's any time you want.

This isn't the first one we've seen around here either.  It would take me a while to count the number of Ferari's that I've seen in the 9 months I've lived here.  And the staple car that every normal person drives out here is either a Lexus, BMW, or Mercedes.  And they're all black.  Apparently it's the cool thing to drive if you live out here.  I'm glad Stephen and I fit right in with our '97 Camry and '01 Grand Prix. :-)  I wouldn't want it any other way.  Keeps us humble :-)
